    If I constructed a mount for an ak/ar platform rifle that would allow you to attatch your favorite pistol via tac rail on the bottom to the forend. What would the ATF have to say about it I'm not to up on my class 3 laws and I was curious.

    Shooter's response makes legal sense. It would be up to BATFE to decide if that was legal or not. In fact, you should ask them....nothing like getting it directly from the horse's mouth...

    ATF letter is cheap to write and better to have solved for real than to face jail and financial ruin if you make up 300 to sell and then get hammered by the ATF.

    Better to be safe than jailed.

    No intent to sell still evaluating production cost for one a and I'll call the ATF since they are so gung ho about busting back woods inventors.

    This ^^^ If you would have asked this question a month ago I would have agreed with the SBR thing, but now, after the attached masterkey/AOW letter I'm not sure how they would rule. I think they may honestly rule that it does not make an SBR, but I would certainly want a letter that said that.
