I have been tossing around the idea of a pistol with a Sig SB15 brace. I have seen many pictures online of them with vertical forward grips. Doesn't this reclassify it from a pistol to an AOW?

VFG yes, but for some reason the ATF has determined an AFG is ok.

From my understanding, as long as its above 26" in overall length, it is no longer a pistol and falls into generic "firearms" land, as its no longer concealable. Thus any AR15 "pistol" that has a permanent overall length of 26"+ (aka.. pistol buffer tube + lower + barrel length (usually 10.5+)) can have a vertical forearm grip...... That's only what I have gathered from (AR Pistol Picture ONLY Thread. - AR15.COM) ... Mainly the later pages....

EDIT: And more importantly the ATF doc... http://www.franklinarmory.com/XO-26_Letter__c_.pdf from an AR15 pistol that has a forward grip... http://www.franklinarmory.com/PRODUCTS_XO-26.html
