First you check your own opinions. What do you think of the local cops? Are they honest? Are anyone of them gung-ho enough to arrrest you on the spot for their own reputation? Do you have anything in your life that you don't want them to find if they decide to ask a BUNCH of questions?

The first thing any good lawyer will tell you is to keep quiet and say nothing if you've been arrested. Kinda makes sense that if you could avoid being arrested by keeping quiet that would also be the thing to do.
