    Hello all,

I'm potentially relocating to South Carolina for a job, what do I do with my class 3 item? New paperwork? How long does it take?

Bring it with you. Fill out and submit a 5320.20 before you go and that’s it. No need to re apply for transfer or anything silly.

This will be a permanent relocation, hopefully I can get the paperwork back before I have to move. I don't know the time frame yet.

If you file and don't travel with the items, no great loss. It's not telling BATFE that you MUST travel with it like you asked permission to do, it's just simply asking permission and letting them know. It's not binding that you then must travel.

The form asks if it temporary or permanent. If it's temporary, it wants dates. The hardest part of filling it out now, it will want an address for your destination.

this is the form you use whether you're gonna by on vacation, or moving out of state.

you can print the form out online from the ATF. It's a 5320.20

I'll be moving out of state and I don't have an address yet, this is all pre gaming right now so I know what I'm getting into if I do take the position and move.

How about a little clarification regarding suppressors vs other NFA items? Since suppressors don't require permission to visit other states, does one need to submit the 5320.20 form for permanent relocation or not? I tried googling an answer but found conflicting information.
