IANAL but purely on the concept of reassembly, pretty sure that is legal. I recall import cut up AKs being brought into the country and being reassembled and made into rifles. But those were not NFA items.

But pretty sure you cannot make a transferrable MG out of them. That is a bridge too far.

With AK's and things, you have to remember not to run afoul of 922R parts count.

Stens require a blocking bar inside the receiver, or a smaller diameter receiver, to prevent a full auto bolt from being dropped in. The exact specifications and modifications required to do so are more complicated than that.

as long as the denial features are present, and the fullauto capabilities removed before re-welding you are legally good to go. I have rewelded a few uzis, AKs, VZ58, Sterling, etc.

as for a 16” barrel, you can build it as a pistol instead, heck toss a brace on it, as long as the “length of pull” is below 13.5” ATF says its kosher.

You can use the parts and make a semi-auto version. You can not legally reassemble it into a machinegun (unless it's papered as a DeWAT, but that's a whole other story).
