    Smuzzle?

Interesting design, but 50% reduction in volume? I find that hard to believe from such a short suppressor.

    Huh.

Kind of expected something knitted from yarn given that name.

Interesting, so it vents gases forward through additional holes, for a muzzle brake effect. I think.

What if you redirected them up? Now you have a smucomp? What if you welded on a spoon for even more functionality?

Maybe the 50% reduction value is at the shooter's ear?

That's what is claimed, but I'm still curious how they're claiming that much from a three inch suppressor.

You can do a lot with 3".

    A friend told me that.

Keep in mind it's not a 50% reduction in volume of the rifle, it's a 50% reduction in volume of the rifle with a muzzle brake.Simply removing the muzzle brake and not replacing it with anything could have produced a fairly significant reduction in volume. That reduction is still impressive but not as impressive as it first sounded.

compared to the standard muzzle brake, the hybrid device, which features asymmetric venting through tiny holes, also provides a 50 percent drop in volume at the shooter and a 25 percent reduction in the flash signature downrange with a minimal weight increase.”

Reminds me of the sound moderators the army put on XM177s in Vietnam. What’s old is new...
