First SOG tool I've owned, probably will be the last.
Broke it while doing some chopping.
Markings on blade are from sharpening on a belt sander and chopping through live brush

Should I waste my time with their warranty department?

Mine done the same thing, it broke right at the handle though. I didn't mess with returning mine, I'm guessing shipping would cost as much as I paid for it.

I'll never buy another Sog again!:noway:

I would just consider it a lesson learned and move on to a better brand, but I might be a little biased since I have never been a sog fan.

I have personally never owned a Condor but I have quite a few friends that swear by them for quality and price. Might look into trying a couple out after I get my hands on a zt 0560/1.

Sog is a classic case of a knife manufacture that once-upon-a-time made an incredible product, has let its quality slip, and relies solely on brand recognition. Gerber would be another fine example.

    ^^ This. ^^

Their Fusion tomahawks held promise but after the rash of breaks - even with the head-to-handle supports, they've lost any hope of a good reputation for them

Yea this is exactly the case for SOG. Once a great company with great products. As with so many other companies now just relies on its name. Strangly as the quality has diminished the prices have gone up. Why?

I was under the impression that Fusion was SOG speak for cheap crap.

Research where it was made before you buy. SOG has stuff made in China, Japan, Taiwan, and the USA.

    China <<<<< Taiwan << Japan < USA, I believe.

I won't own another SOG after owning the Trident folder. It had a lot of side to side play and no matter how often I tightened the pivot screw it would end up with play after just a few openings.

I own a Fusion tomahawk but it does duty as a possible skull splitter near my bed.

    So, update.

I have a SogFari machete that is broken
Can you examine the photos and tell me if it would be covered under warranty?
I don’t want to spend $7 to ship it just to find out it isn’t covered

    20 days later

    Good Morning!
Sorry to hear that, but we can help you out with that. Sorry about the delay, I found your email in my junk box. Just send it in to the address below with a brief description on what happened, as well as all your contact info for us to get that back out to you. In this case we would just need to replace that for you. We do have a newer design that is heavier and thicker. Sorry for the inconvenience..
    Thank you!

Sent it out last week with a copy of their email enclosed.
Cost me $11 to ship it out, and haven't heard or received anything from them.

Probably going to end up eating that $11

You probably won't hear from them at all at this point. You'll probably just be surprised by a package some day when you get home. Sog knives and tools are in that catagory where I don't expect much in terms of support if something goes wrong.
