This is the CampingSurvival.com website. They have lots of colors and patterns. Good prices on 550 cord. They have the cheaper cord as well but it is pretty easy to tell which is actual 550 cord and which is just generic "paracord" from the description. I have purchased several items from them.
I too acquired a spool of 1000 ft of coyote brown 550 cord through an Amazon.com vendor.
And, I did my first cord wrap this weekend on a Becker Necker. The first two attempts were functional, but I wasn't happy with the looks. Third try was much better and will likely remain for a while.
Just make sure to look for MIL-C-5040H paracord and not MIL-C-5040. the MIL-C5040H is the real deal military grade paracord. 7 strands, 3 braids and has an actual breaking point of 550lbs.
