So there I was browsing with the wife at Southport Antique Mall when something familiar caught my eye-- the Kershaw logo.

Stacked behind some other items I found this older looking Kershaw Chef's knife gift set, still in its original packaging. I certainly wouldn't call this "antique", but it didn't look like anything recent for sure.

A quick Google search didn't turn up anything matching.

So what do I have here? Fake? Just old/discontinued? The World's Most Prized Kershaw?

I paid $12 for the set, and they're both wicked sharp. Figured I couldn't go wrong with that deal.

Here are some pictures of the set:

High Carbon, Stainless Steel now that is a contradiction
Actually it's not. The amount of chromium in the alloy that determines if a steel is stainless, not the carbon content. Bohler M390 and Uddeholm Elmax both have more carbon than AISI M4 / CPM M4. CPM S110V and S125V both have more carbon CPM 10V (itself a PM version of AISI A11).
