No. Let him think those crktís are discontinued and buy him a quality knife instead.

I also like my pm2.....more than the manix. The manix just reminded me more of the crkt the guy liked. Plus, the manix is cheaper, but every bit as robust as a pm2.

It's a super clean powder steel. M390 has a highly homogeneous structure with very fine carbides which gives it great toughness, wear resistance, and corrosion resistance properties. A lot of knife companies are using it right now, like Microtech, Benchmade, and others.

Similar to cts 240p. Both excellent stainless super steels for knives. Not sure if m390 is still one of the flavors of the month, but it used to be what everyone wanted a couple years ago.

Sure. But thatís not the case with that crkt. Itís not anywhere close to on par with what reate and weknives are putting out.

These days, you can buy extremely nice things or junk, and anywhere in between, from China. The issues are counterfeit, and you have to completely babysit everything Chinese manufacturers do.

I never said the CRKT was high quality, and I didn't address what the level of quality it is. I would think it would be obvious to most people what level of quality it is based on the fact that it is a $15 to $20 knife. I was merely stating that some manufacturers from China have caught up in being able to manufacturer a high quality knife, and you can no longer assume that everything that comes from China is junk. At the same time, you can no longer assume that just because a knife is manufactured in the USA, Germany or other countries of origin that use to have a reputation of manufacturing high quality knives that you are still getting that level of quality that they were known for in the past. I have seen some real crap coming from these countries...... including the USA.

Unfortunately , you will see a lemon every once in awhile from just about every company. I have seen them from just about every premiere USA company there is...Spyderco, Benchmade, ZT, Kershaw, and others. The problem is, when a customer gets a lemon, it usually turns that customer off to that brand, which is unfortunate because that "one' lemon usually doesn't represent the normal quality level that comes from the company.

Are you my long-lost twin brother ?
    I love my Manix. It's a bit heavy, but it's sturdy !
