Thinking about pulling the trigger (so to speak) on a Kershaw Launch 5. I really like the look and the Emerson design. Anyone have one?

Not that specific model but my Dad has a Launch 1 and for the money that are about the best Out the Side Automatics available IMHO

I don't own a Launch 5, but I do have a Kershaw Brawler that I absolutely love. It's not an automatic, but is an assisted opening knife.

Granted it's about 1/4 of the price and 2/3 the size, but the thing just works. It's a smooth flip to open and it always locks up tight on the first try.

Part of my job is setting up tradeshow booths and I abuse the heck out of it cutting open sometimes hundreds of card board boxes in a day. I've been using it for almost 2 years now and it's only now getting to the point where it's time to properly sharpen it. It feels solid in the hand and is very versatile, even with the modified Tanto blade.

It might be the best $20 I've spent on a folder. I'd certainly consider other Kershaw knives.

Can’t speak for the 5 but my main edc is a launch 1 and its very nice. Only problem I have is that I dropped it and the very tip broke off, but that was not iershaws fault. Dropped it from about chest height onto a tile floor at work and it landed right on the tip. The 1 opens with some force. Just about jumped out of my hand the first time I opened it.

Make sure that it locks open when put into action. Mine didn't. Neither did the replacement. Kershaw made it right. But I look at their autos differently now. YMMV.

The Kershaw automatics are all quite good knives. And the Launch 1 that I got NIB for under $100 is a heck of a deal.

They'd be worth the asking price if they were assisted-opening.

To parrot what the others say, I don’t own a 5, I own a launch 1 and an older kershaw breakout, and both are great knives, I really don’t think that they’d make the 5 knowing it’s a bad knife.
