    Here are some pics of my 4th of July knife (as a work in progress).
    Ordered red white and blue G10 handle scales this afternoon... =)
    After hardening and tempering, the lower etched areas will be much darker.

    I use band saw for rough outline, then grinding and filing for final shape and bevels.
    The images are just etched deeply into the metal.
    I built a DC etcher out of an old PC power supply.

    Here is my completed 4th of July knife!
    The flag etching did not turn out as dark as I thought it would.
    Buffing the blade I think cleaned it up. Still like the effect tho'
