The past few years I've begun seeking out, and using quality woodsmans tools. Here's my Council Tool USFS axe. It came shave sharp. And a sheath I handmade, from used fire hose. I've got some other hacking and chopping tools, I'll try and get posted as I use them.

I've abandoned axes over the years. Machetes work better on brush, anything bigger and I'm using a chain saw. The hatchet doubles as a hammer most of the time.

I'll one-up you and say I use a weed whacker with a blade for brush and a chainsaw for anything bigger. I'm getting older and have more property to take care of than I can manage with a machete and axe.

I've been using a PKS Forest Tool like the knife pictured above (mine is the older, cheaper version with a walnut handle) for clearing brush, big weeds, and saplings for a while.

My family and I own a bit of property with lots of growth. I've been using a briar axe to keep it clear for the last 20 years. Amazing tool for thorns, scrubs, saplings, zombies, etc.

ETA: sometimes called a ditch bank axe

Snow an Neally out of Maine makes some beautiful hatchets, perfectly balanced, hand forged heads, leather cover, awesome handle. Feels like an extention of your hand. What you prefer to cut with it is your own choice but they are outstanding tools.

    Nice Sheath!

If you ever want to take a stab at making a leather sheath for your axe, let me know. I’d be happy to help you make one. I should probably post a picture but I’m still in the process of moving all the rest of my stuff.
