Every time we come to the PI I try to add a new knife to my collection. This is my latest. this is not a tourist knife as I buy them in the back hill markets from the same local merchants where the farmers and tradesmen get theirs. Not always pretty, but they have to take a beating and keep going. The sheath and handle are dyed mango wood, I believe. No idea what the steel is, but like I said, it has to last long and perform in really rugged circumstances. Cost me 800 pesos, or $16. I could have bargained more , but they need that extra dollar or two more than I do.

When I got my PI bolo, IIRC it was made from a leaf spring. I got mine during JEST training in Subic Bay from a Negritos instructor
