I recently heard a story about a gentleman named "Corn-pop". According to the storyteller, Corn-pop's weapon of choice was a straight razor.
The person telling the story said that the proper way to prepare a razor for use was to bang it on the curb a few times and to drop it in a bucket of rainwater.

Is beat up and rusty how straight razors were/are carried?
