Turtle's recent review threads got me to wondering. . . .

What do you think is the BEST knife with a price point less than $100. Not $120, $110, or $102, but UNDER $100.

What has the best combination of steel, blade contour, grip materials, size, hardness, or customer service, all rolled into a sub-$100 package?

    benchmade griptilian
    benchmade mini-nitrous striker
    lonewolf diablo
    spyderco endura with zdp189 steel
    spyderco manix
    spyderco tenacious

so basically spyderco and benchmade IMO for under $100

Maybe I should've highlighted the word THE.

I'm looking for only one answer. If you had $100 to put toward a knife, and you were wanting to get the BEST that you could with that money, what would you buy? And why?

Why? Because I own 2 out of 3 and love them :D

If I could only have 1, it'd be the RC-4.

Ahhhh!!! I said KNIFE! Not MANUFACTURER!! Benchmade makes SEVERAL knives under $100 and MANY considerably higher than $100.

    What KNIFE? (meaning model)

You guys all get D's for failure to follow instructions. . .

    :lol2:

Ok, so we have your pick, and a picture, and a reason why you feel it is the BEST knife under $100.

So, how much does this knife cost?

I just looked it up on that site. It is $94. I'm gladthis thread was started because I have been looking to pick up a good knife for under $100 as well.

My RC-4 should get here this week, along with a black Izula.

I'll know after they arrive if either are serious contenders for "best knife under $100".

Tyler's vote for the Scrapyard Scrapper 5 is an excellent choice, I'd second that. Trouble is, read that post carefully...."when you could order them..." That knife now sells all day long for mid $100's due to that fact, and given the nature of those blades, will likely only appreciate in value.

I've recently been made aware of the great blade steel of ZDP-189,(thanks paddling_man!) Tyler's suggestion of the Endura in that steel would make for an outstanding knife. I'm looking for one now that I know such a thing exists.

Thanks for the tip. My wife is due on Oct. 22nd, maybe I'll give Bob some $$ and have him grab one for me just in case. You probably won't even notice him.

I love the natives! especially when you could get them for $40 at wal-mart. now they are like $60 and the s30v blades are a little harder to find.

I've actually never owned a Spyderco, I've been looking into them on and off for a while now, but I've never bought one. After what I've read about the ZDP-189, I'd love to buy my first one with that steel. I have handled a Native, those are an exceptional value for the money.

I'll throw a few more folders into the pot here.

CRKT's M-16 lineup, designed by Kit Carson. I have two of the the M16-13 and a M16-14ZFI as my current EDC blade. I think they're great knives for the money, they've all served me well, they hold their edges well and have a great warranty.

Here are the M16-13sf's, (I have two of the middle ones here, serve as backups to my primary EDC below)

Here's the M16-14sf (I have the top one here, serves as my primary EDC)
