My mind got to wandering the other day which is not always a good thing.

One in the chamber holsters posted this pic on Facebook

Which got me to thinking that would be cool setup for show and tell. But then I would need a pair matching pistols. So I went through a lengthy thought process of what would they be. Commanders, Government, Colts custom builds or what.

After a lot of thought I settled on 5.4" 10mm's with full profile comps. Having said all this I should be posting pics of some really nice pistols but I am not :)
However I thought I would experiment with something cheaper and see if I really want to cut up a pair of Dan Wesson's or do expensive builds.

Instead I picked up a pair of 10mm RIA's and have 1 almost done. I test fired the 1st one yesterday with excellent results.

    On to the pics.

    pistols and comp blanks

Trimmed the slide to commander length

Cut the blank to the length I wanted and turned down the factory bull barrel and set up the blank. As you can see when the gun is in battery the blank sit at an angle and metal has to be removed to give a straight appearance

    Some holes

Had to modify a commander bushing

A little more profiling and more blending needed but it is shootable at this point and recoil is greatly reduced. Should make a great bowling pin gun with 200 gr loads

    Just cant decide on color/colors

If I had a twin for my carry comp, that holster would be a must have! Reminds me of the holster Nicholas cage had in Face-Off.

I only wish that I had your skills and equipment to do something that cool.
It should really send the pins flying!

Thanks and it is ready to run. I have shot it with my heavy loads and it is impressive how efficient the comp is. There is a Pin match coming up in a could weeks at MCF&G I am going to try to test it out there

Once the second one is done, you need that holster to make them your new EDC. Then you have to work on the two-at-one time reload! Mags and brass will be flying!

I am really hating you right now.....:(

I have to admit the fit up on this gun was pretty nice for a Rock.

It is not bad. I had to mask the rails off when I painted it or it would not have went back together without a fight. Can't always say that about mil spec :stickpoke: :) (sorry couldn't resist)

I was hitting steel with this at 150 yards at Terre Haute pretty consistent, best mag was 5 out of 8 shots. So I feel good about the gun.
