It is legal for you to sell rifles to residents of states adjacent to Indiana, without having to transfer it to an FFL in their state, correct? Ohio, Mich, Illinois, Kentucky residents? also, is this legal for me as a private seller? Handguns are required to go through an FFL in the purchaser's state though?

All firearms transactions (long gun and handgun) between private persons must be residents of the same state, otherwise you have to send it to an FFL in the buyer's state.

I can sell LongGuns to a resident of another state.
I must follow all of that state's laws.
ie IL residents need a FOID to buy a LongGun in Indiana.

So if I do not have an obligation to have a background check done when I'm selling a dude a gun, how do I know he's from out of state in the first place?
