    ...from a dumbazz. He lives in a nearby town so I volunteered to drive over and do a face-to face transfer. He insists the gun is registered to him so we will need to go to his dealer to transfer it. Shouldn't a gun owning lawyer in Indiana know better?

    As a gun owning lawyer....yes.

    However, my guess is that what he really means is that since he filled out the 4473, if it winds up used in some nefarious manner, he wants to have the paperwork to show he transferred it to someone not prohibited from owning a gun. We lawyers are a careful lot....when it comes to CYA.

    Agreed. Thats the only way I well sell something that has an offical paper trail to me.

    However, he should have told you that during your communications. ;)
