    Yea!
Is it customary for an FFL to call back after a couple of days
to check on a delay status for a customer?

In other words is it too much for me to ask them to do a follow
    up call for me?

This FFL is not open after 5pm and I will have to wait anther week
to pick up my firearm as its very hard for me to got out of work early.

Its very likely that it been approved allready.

I normally call on a delay if I don't know the customer. The general response is "it's on delay, no other status available".

The FFL can release the firearm to you after the delay period expires without further confirmation from the FBI.

My understanding is that if you were delayed and the FFL has not heard back from the BATFE in 3 Business days you can pick up the firearm. Maybe I'm off base here, been known to happen. :twocents:

If the dealer were to call NICS this is what they will tell him: "status is on delay". When NICS approves your background check they will pick up the phone, call the dealer and tell him.

I have heard that sometimes NICS dosent call back even though
its approved because there very busy.

I wanted to get this done today but now I have to wait another week
to pick up something I bought and payed for.

It ****ing bull**** having to wait for a carry licence and a purchace
when its supposed to be guarenteed in the consttution.:xmad:

Its not that big of a deal, IMO. Just wait the three days out, and certainly dont be frustrated with the FFL. It isnt their fault that you were delayed, and they definitely dont want to hold your firearm in inventory for those few days, but they have to. They have other customers and cant get any extra info, so why waste their time insisting they call for a status update?

The problem is... when calling for a status check, you need a NICS examiner. Getting through to one is (currently) next to impossible. Just getting bumped from the call center rep to a further review yesterday, I was on hold for nearly 45 minutes. I think it's worse if you try to just call for only that, but I don't know for certain. All I know is I've been killing the cordless phone charge. Over. And over. And over.

Im just frustated with the whole procedure.

Im getting a upin, another 3 month procedure.

    Jimmy

I have a UPIN and it didn't take 3 months to get. Just make sure you send in every conceivable piece of documentation you can find to justify that you are a proper person along with the requisite fingerprint cards and signed application.

I know you are frustrated, but don't be mad at the dealer. He can call, ask to talk to a NICS supervisor, who will not tell you anything, and you can spend hours on hold, and the Feds will not tell you anything. Been there, done that.
