Anybody been to Guntown on U.S. 30 near Grovertown? I usually stop once a year and nothing has changed. Very high prices. $702.95 for a Glock 21 Gen 4. $605 for an S&W MP9 fullsize.. How can you ask for more than msrp?

I like supporting LGSs, but if it's exactly the same firearm, I'm buying wherever it's the least expensive. Any warranty issues go back to the manufacturer, anyway. And 'customer service' is typically irrelevant, since I know what I want when I walk in.

In NWI, Blythe's has been pretty good at keeping competitive with big-box stores like Cabela's and Bass Pro on firearms-related items.

I've been to Guntown a few times as I drive that way often, but I always buy from ZX Gun in Goshen.

I bought a Springfield Range Officer at ZX 3 weeks ago for $730. Blythes... $899
Blythes likes to play the negotiating game. ZX seems to price their guns at the price they will sell them for.

I am personally not a fan of the Blythes model, but it doesn't stop me from shopping there. I wish ZX were closer to NWI. I do like to stop by their booth at the Valpo gun show when they come to town.

Midwest is having a Ruger sale right now on their SR series. Reg price $469, on sale for $389. Regular everyday price at ZX is $389. ZX posted this on Facebook last night. This Saturday we are having a Gun Show Sale in both Stores $10.00 Min off any gun. But like a gunshow, ask us for the best price. Since it's been a while since our last show, we haven't been asked if we can do better. So ask us for the best prices ever, come pickup that gun you have been waiting for.

Still cheaper than Gander Mt in Greenwood. $729 for a Gen 4 Glock 17.. Stopped by there to get some 22 ammo on Thursday and they actually had some left at a reasonable price. Notice I said reasonable, not cheap. :)

So, how does a store like Guntown stay in business? I've driven past it many times, but never have stopped. Usually, i guess, because I was headed somewhere else...

Stopped in there one day shortly after they opened. Nice selection but yes, the prices were high. I have no desire to go back since there are many other local shops that offer a better selection at much lower prices.

When I've found something I want but the LGS is priced high, I just take a printout from online. I also make sure to figure in shipping and transfer versus price and local tax. Normally the shop will deal to get the sale.

Sounds like that may be the case with Grovertown. :dunno:
