I applied for a C&R FFL, the ATF charged my card back on Feb. 9. I called a few days ago, after a month wait, and was told it was still in process and that the processing is now taking up to 90 days. :xmad: What the heck are they waiting for, a Obamassiah presidency.

Any chance you can put together a How-To for the standard Dealer/Vendor FFL?

My brief understanding is you must have a business license, etc. and that the cost once all the forms are in place is ~ $200 for the first 3 years.

of course someone with more experience might jump in with detailed info?

First check your City/County (same thing in Marion) zoning laws for home business'.
I had to submit a floor plan and sign a statement that I would not discharge firearms on the premesis etc.

You need a sales tax number

Indiana Department of Revenue - About the Department - Business Resources

    IN.gov: Business & Employment

You need a Handgun sales License $20 from ISP

You can get this at the county court house.

Get the City, County, and State requirements done first.
Don't pay any fees until you're sure you qualify for the FFL.

Then send in the Federal paperwork.

Call your local police dept and ask for someone who can do finger prints. A detective in Plainfield did mine for free and gave my son a tour of the jail.

have a passport photo taken at Wal-Mart ($10).

You must be planning to go into the Gun business.
You must have regular business hours.
You must keep a bound book and maintain a file for 4473 and other forms.
You can't use it just for collecting.
You can't just use it at Gunshows.

    If your city/county zoning allows:
    You can sell guns.
    You can offer Gunsmithing Services.

Once the ATF receives your paperwork they will schedule an interview. It's more of a tutorial on what to do and not to do.
    Takes 2-3 hours.

My interview was very pleasant, my cat laid on the table in the middle of the table and playfully attacked the ATF Agent.
    Good thing she liked cats.

It's easier than it sounds and only requires 1 trip to the court house and a trip to the police station. (county charges $10 for Fingerprints).
