Four years ago, a handful of INGO members casually got together on Memorial Day and shot several vintage military rifles. It was our way to give homage to the many men and women who have served in the U.S. military and have given us the freedoms we enjoy today.

This Spring, we decided it was time to do it again and included several more people.

Hey cool! The canopy (almost) fits up there!!! An impressive engineering feat!!!

If it wasn't for the overhang of the sunroom, it would have been perfect. Mrs. lovemywoods came up with some Brown County Engineering and they held the right hand legs with tie down straps :)

What a great time, and a wonderful way to honor those who have laid down their lives for the cause of freedom.

Mega thanks to Lovemywoods for proposing the idea, for opening his homestead to the lot of us, and for putting in a word with the Man Upstairs regarding the weather. ;) Also to my old friend TheJoker for sharing his collection and his knowledge. There was some shooting, but there was a lot more socializing! It was nice to catch up with some of the folks I've met through this forum but don't see nearly often enough.

But enough about that, on with a bunch of pics! :D

Very cool idea. I hope I see the thread for next year, I'd like to join. I went camping this Memorial Day in the Hoosier National Forest with Indiana Overlanders (a facebook group of off road adventurers) We did some shooting as well. Great weather this past weekend.

Honors to those who served to allow us to exercise our rights shooting the fine rifles of the Allies and Axis. Many thanks to TheJoker for his excellent presentation and allowing the use of his fine collection.

Also thanks to OneBadV8, shooter521, Lawman and lovemywoods for bringing out the interesting mix of personal firearms for some after dinner shooting.

It was a great day visiting with old INGO friends. As many know, lovemywoods and family know their stuff when it comes to having a get together.

Great pix, Mark! I love the shot of the Mum on the Japanese rifle. Great detail!

It was a wonderful day. The better than expected weather was proof in the power of prayer. I can't thank our host enough for providing me with a much needed outlet of my inner, battle rifle geek. And for the awesome grub!

Looks great! I can smell the oil soaked stocks, the cordite smell from some of those older rifles, and can hear the "ping" of the M1 en bloc clips ejecting. What a great way to honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice so that we could enjoy such freedoms!

Had to hit the range at Frank W. Merry just on principle. Only one other stalwart soul inhabited the benches, and one more as I was finishing up.
Still and all, it was a great day for remembering, and for shooting.

My son, a friend and I also did some shooting of the old warhorse Garand. Through in an AR and a 9mm pistol just for good measure. I made the comment "sounds like freedom". About 15 minutes after we were done Law Enforcement showed up. He was mad we didn't invite him. Seems some freedom hater called us in. My last comment to the Officer before he left was "should've heard the Garand, sounded like freedom". We all chuckled.
