I was at the show, in the same building, when it happened. Maybe 50 - 75 feet away. The guy shot is 20 years old. He and his dad bought the gun from a dealer, which was zip tied with the hammer back, slide forward and empty magazine, and took it to another dealer friend of theirs. When the dealer cut the tie off, the hammer dropped an pow. The slide was not zipped as to where it could not be moved or opened. There was talk amongst the dealers and crowd that a "non-gun person" could have placed a round in the gun when "looking" at it. The gun was a CZ52. The local PD and paramedics were incredible. He was in the ambulance and on the way to a hospital in under 5 minutes. Unless you were actually IN the building, you didn't know what happened. Nobody freaked out, 500 people carrying guns did not start swinging concealed carry guns around, no one else was shot because of a trigger happy individual or police. No screaming or hollering, even from the shot individual. Yes, it could have been much worse, but it was not. Infact, the local news had a 10-15 second bit on it, and it was not in a negative way.
And, if you have never been out to this show, you should. It makes our Indy 1500 or the Louisville gun show look like chump change. 6 buildings and 2 large tents (50 x 100) set up outside plus other venders set-up under their own awnings.
    SOFA KING AWESOME SHOW!

Wow! Glad the guy got quick treatment.
You story now crushes mine.....I was at the Fort Wayne Fair Grounds show 6/7 years ago when someone put a .22 through the roof.....IIRC no one ever found out exactly which table it came from. It was allegedly a dealer firing into the air. Yay for some adherence to safety.

weren't non-life threatening but was taken to a hospital. Uh, someone needs to edit these stories.

He was shot in the stomach area. Bullet went in and hit a rib and came out and hit the floor beside him. It hit no vital organs, damn lucky. The local news said he would probably go home on Monday.

Wasn't there a similar incident in Illinois a number of years ago? As I recall, it was a Ruger Mini 14 in .223, and the round went through a wooden support pillar and struck a person on the other side. I don't think he was killed, but somebody posted video of the aftermath with the paramedics showing up, and boy was that a cluster.

At the Bill Goodman show in Dayton, Ohio in the 90s, somebody cooked off a shotgun at the entrance table not far from me, where they open guns and check actions. Seems the goober took his (loaded) shotgun outen his pickemup truck, and decided to take it in and try to sell/trade it. You guessed it - action wouldn't open at the zip tie table. And of course, there are 2 ways to _get_ the action to open. He chose the wrong one. Pulled the trigger and put one through the duct work in the ceiling. That room got so quiet, you could hear a pin drop for 3-5 seconds. There was no screaming, so everyone just went back about their business, after a bit. The announcer came over the speaker, explained the person was escorted out & wouldn't be allowed to return, and the room erupted into applause.

I think I'd rather go fishing in a lightning storm than work the Zip Tie Table at a gun show. All that mass of public squirming past you, pulling guns out of their breeches and sweeping them around. I really can't believe they don't have sand barrels already.
