Maybe they should first deal with all the drugs that flow out of Chicago....heroin is a major problem in NEI (as it is in many parts of the State and Country) with a lot of supply coming out of Chicago. Also, NEI gets traffic from the South heading up to Detroit.

At least that is what local law enforcement has told me...

Chicago, and every other city for that matter, won't solve the crime problem until they arrest the poeple commiting the crimes, put them in jail and LEAVE THEM THERE!

The machine gets richer and more powerful, the only meaningful statistic to chicago leadership.

I think it's become a game to the gangs.
Nothing better to do. No jobs, no prospects, no self-respect or sense of worth.
Might as well go out and ruin someone else's life too.

Now Rahm wants to hire more cops... You can blame him, the ACLU,the Civilian Review Board etc. for convincing the cops its in their best interest not to do their jobs, or especially to be proactive. Citizen contacts down..murders up.

I keep hearing the political types, both elected office holders and the self appointed ones in the media, keep wanting to blame Indiana's guns for the murders. If the guns are the cause of murders, than why is anyone still alive in this Indiana? It appears that everyone here has a couple dozen guns, why isn't that causing carnage?

You think maybe if they didn't subsidize the criminals, Chicago's rates would go down?

Wouldn't that bring more guns into Chicago? :):

Yes, we should. Life is the greatest gift any of us will ever receive. To see it wasted for nothing is terribly sad. It could all be different.

At a certain point, you know better, and the choices you make can have a profound effect on your life. It's difficult for me to find sympathy. Though I appreciate your high road thinking.

Not only the life of the combatants but the non-combatants.

The vast majority of people in the neighborhoods that are Rahm's shooting galleries are good people who only want to work, love their families and be left alone. Rahm has abandoned them with his "take it to the alley" green light to the thugs.

In Chicago the politicians are co-conspirators to the gang life style. This will only change when voting patterns change. The people of Chicago voted for this and they need to vote themselves out of it. OTOH, the Republican party, the party of Lincoln, has written off all of Chicago and it is a crying shame.

Yes, but isn't there currently a 'war' on cops going on?

It's ludicrous to think that everytime a cop pulls his gun and shoots in response to a criminal's aggressive actions that the cop is somehow 'wrong' in their response?

The Criminal-in-Chief, himself, sees to that!
