I have a co-worker who wants to try out a 50 BMG. Are there any ranges in central Indiana (or any reasonable drive from Indy) where someone can rent/try one out? Thanks!

Dang, that's some expensive rental prices.

If your buddy isn't in a hurry and if s/he is an INGO member, make plans to come to the next INGO Open Shoot at Proteq in Brazil, IN. Unless something comes up, I plan to be there... and if I am there, there will definitely be a .50 BMG rifle and a full auto MP5 there (among other things). I'm always happy to share (as long as people are willing to kick in for ammo or bring their own).

Ammo is $ 3-6 a round. Depending on type of projectile.

That's better than $120 for two mags through the MP5. Yikes!

I did that at Applied Ballistics for about a third of that price.

Join Elwood CC, and seek out Squirrel. He has been known to hook people up to shoot both and I've never seen him charge anyone. He has MP5's in 9 and 10mm.

    Sales or Rental ?

On the occasions that I attended the first thing I saw/heard/felt was a cannon on the left just before the full auto firing line.

I saw several for sale as well. The self restraint involved nearly caused serious injury. Who doesn't want a cannon?

I think there were people with .50 BMG that you could shoot for about $5 a shot. Price might have changed.

If you do get up Roanoke way, Hillside is an awesome range. They host 3 gun, trap, 5 stand. Indoor and outdoor shooting bays. They have a nice set up. No indoor for the 50 though :ar15:
