French police or Army carring bullpup and 1911

I was watching the morning news.
They showed the riots in France.
I spotted the Police / Army carrying A bullpup style rifle.
Then I spotted what looked exactly like the grip and style of a 1911 in their combat holster.

The bullpup is probably the FAMAS, the standard rifle of French military/counter-terror. (At least, I think it is.)

The 1911 is probably a 1911. Mostly just because.

Rifle=Le Clarion, FAMAS, Fusil Un, F1.

Handgun=if had 17 degree grip like 1911, then likely ZIG ZAUER P2022 or MAB FA-15 (it could be others, even a Ruby).

Because that is what they are issued.

(Understand that most of the police in France are directly controlled by Paris, both GN and PN/SN. Decisions are to gear come from the top down and far away).

Interesting. I had no idea any foreign police departments were using the Mini-14. That's kind of neat, though honestly, I'd rather have an AR or M16/M4 if I were them... but then it sounds like the Mini-14 was picked by politicos because it wasn't as "scary" looking.

Oui, and made by people far away in Paris. GIGN uses M4 and HK54 variants.

Have you seen the .222 version of the Mini-14 in France?

I thought the very same thing. I understand the sidearm is a backup weapon, not primary, but myself...I want every round available should that need arise...

I never seen a cop or soldier carry a 1911.

French soldiers carry a version of the Beretta M9 (called PA-MAS G1) , police and Gendarmerie the Sig SP2022.

None of the photos looked anything like the rig I seen on the video.
All I could see was from the grip back. it looked exactly like a 1911.

Yes, you see those in stores.

Both as a modern gun for competition and as an historical collection piece.
