Got email from IDNR: Announcing that No Rifles may be used to hunt DEER on public lands, state or federal! Only shotguns, muzzle loaders or handguns! then directing me to this link: DNR: Deer Hunting Questions & Answers

I was mad as he** that Our Legislature only allowed the new rifle calibers on Private Land.

NOW, I can not use ANY RIFLE.

No .44 rem. Mag. lever gun.
No .357 rem Mag. lever gun.
No Rifles AT ALL................

We need hunters to contact their Representatives to PROTEST this.

We ALL pay Indiana TAXES and We ALL deserve to Hunt with the SAME EQUIPMENT. ANY LEGAL RIFLE......whether WE hunt on PRIVATE or PUBLIC LANDS IN THIS STATE.

I am DONE hunting in Indiana until DNR & Legislature FIX this so ALL Hoosiers can hunt with rifles on PUBLIC STATE, PUBLIC FEDERAL OR PRIVATE LANDS.

THIS IS THE NASTY SECTION OF THAT LINK:

.....................but removed the ability for any rifle to be used on public land for deer hunting. "Public land" includes both state and federal property.

House Enrolled Act 1415 allows some additional rifle cartridges to be used on private land during the deer firearms season, but removed the ability for any rifle to be used on public land for deer hunting. "Public land" includes both state and federal property.
