The 32-20 is an old cartridge from the early black powder days of Colt and Winchester, both the SAA and lever action 1873 were chambered for it. Here are some firearms, Winchesters, Colts, S&W with modern replicas. The ammo I just finished is Starline case with a 115 grain cast bullet backed by 9 grains of 2400. With jacketed bullets in this weight range speeds can be boosted to 1700 fps making it a versatile shooter.

I've enjoyed shooting 32-20, it's easy recoil, non existent in the Winchester, and lower consumption of powder and lead make it a fun historical plinker. It's loud in handguns though.

I had a Colt Police Positive come in the shop the other day in 32-20....I have always liked that round but never owned one in it...

Very nice selection Leadeye....I love the little Birdshead...I got a hankering for this Ruger Single Seven in .327....

Very nice selection of old iron. I would like to adopt the New Service, Police Positive and Smith Hand Ejector when you tire of feeding them.
Do you load a lighter round for the those old revolvers?

Everything on the page eats the posted load with no issues, I would step down for something like a BP frame first generation Colt SAA and similar guns.

Elmer Keith liked 10 grains of 2400 behind a similar bullet, but then Elmer was shooting back when these guns were a lot younger.:)

    They are sized .314.

20+ years ago when going through my old boss' stuff after he died, we found a pretty nice SAA 32-20. Blued, 5 1/2" barrel, sweet little gun.

...I hope his estrange family enjoyed it.

We cowboy shoot with some folks here and there that use the .32-20. Even split I think between BP and smokeless. They ALL get bright eyed when you find their brass and return it.

I had a .32-20 HE 1905 4th change out in Idaho. It dated to 1909 View attachment 62945 . You could still find some of the handgun loads for it (rifle loads are much hotter). It was a bit loose thouhg. I traded it off for something else, don't remember what, this was 20 years ago.

Recently picked up another one, dated to 1919. It's a reblue, and the old Franzite plastic stocks have started to shrink a bit. Mechanically, it's a lot tighter than my old one was. Had to reorder a set of dies, some brass from Starline and some 94 Gr LSWC for it. I load 3 grains of Trailboss for a nice mild, accurate load at about 700 FPS.
