We actually used to cut poodle shaped targets from white cardboard and used them in our matches for the guys who showed up with 9mm pistols and .223 rifles. If they missed the IPSC target twice in a row they were allowed to shoot the poodle which earned them a half a point on their scorecard. They were not amused. Absolutely NO sense of humor. Keep in mind, this was way back when EVERYBODY shooting IPSC used .45 ACP pistols. Our steel poppers were carefully set so that anything less than a .45 ACP would NOT take it down.
