You just really have to read the article, and then completely read it again..... to understand where I'm coming from; but....

Does anyone else here think a good lawyer can get this old lady a 'Not Guilty' verdict (on the 1st degree murder charge; one of three) on the grounds of self-defense???

A few points important to the case:

~ She's 92, son was 72. So she raised him from age 20 to age 38, at the very least. We really need MUCH more info and history on both of them, including the recent events in the home. Also, was the son asleep when killed? Sounds like, the way the article is written, that she was speaking to him ('"Tired of the way you're treating me"). Also, had he put his hands on the mother at any time recently, prior to the shooting?

~ Article says she had been living with the son (his home) and his GF, for six months. In Arizona, that makes the home, here home, legally. Son can't make her move out under ANY circumstances..... unless she wants to do so.

~ Article states that the Sheriff made the comment that "She'd been thinking about it for a couple days..." Unless the old gal uttered that, then that is just an assumption on the part of LEO.... based strictly on a few hours interviews and investigation. He is assuming her 'pre-meditation' in the shooting.

    The short article.....

She didn't want to go to an assisted living home.....

But she might be treated better in jail than a nursing home.

Main takeaway: She had a BUG in her other robe pocket. I’ll bet those pistols sat around for 50 years and still went bang when she pulled the trigger.

None of your points matter for self-defense. A jury might find her sympathetic and deliver a "not guilty" but legally you can't self-defense after the fact.

She's 92, what are you really going to do to her?

The most appropriate punishment would be to send her to the home for the blue hairs....
