Appeared to have a gun, because he had a gun.

Footage from body cameras and other surveillance video appeared to show that a black man who was shot and killed by a Chicago police officer was armed with a gun and reached toward it as officers confronted him, officials said Sunday.

Chicago Police Superintendent Eddie Johnson said Harith Augustus, 37, had a holstered semiautomatic handgun tucked into his waistband when officers confronted him on the city's South Side. According to patrol chief Fred Waller, Augustus broke free and ran from the officers, who believed "he appeared to be reaching for a weapon" and shot him.

Gloria Rainge, who lives in the area, told the Chicago Sun-Times that Augustus, known in the Grand Crossing neighborhood as "Snoop," worked at a barbershop and had a 5-year-old daughter.

    And of course...

Augustus' death sparked angry protests Saturday night. Four protesters were arrested after scuffles broke out; some officers suffered minor injuries from thrown rocks and bottles, some filled with urine. Officers pulled people to the ground and struck them with batons. Two squad cars also were damaged.

    Could be anywhere
That seems to be a whole town full of play stupid games...isn't a bottle full of urine considered a deadly weapon? I'd have to assume it was filled with contagious stuff.

Question for LEOs; is it common to run across people illegally carrying who use a retention holster and carry spare mags?

This is my favorite part. In a place where they don't want you to own a gun, they question why the police would approach someone carrying one.

While the video appears to answer one question — that Augustus was armed — the decisions of the officers in how they approached him will no doubt be part of a COPA review that will likely take months.

They had professional **** stirrers in the crowd with megaphones trying to incite a riot and obviously it worked. People throwing rocks at the police and several Injured.
If you are inciting a crowd like I ALWAYS see in these black communities, you need to go to jail. People will listen to ideas they never would when not emotionally charged and a group of people acting together is dangerous. You could take a crowd of nuns and work them up into a riot if you knew what you were doing. Its human nature in its basic primal form.
White people on megaphones in newly printed T-Shirts with socialist propaganda on them who show up immediately after a police shooting, inciting black people in a mostly black neighborhood to riot against the police yelling things like "they work for Trump", isnt just normal people voicing concern. This is a calculated and well funded campaign to incite a civil war starting with a war on the police and the right who is basicly the only side representing and defending the republic anymore. The Democrats have fully admitted now they are socialist and that is their platform. You cannot be socialists and support and defend the constitution at the same time and they know it.

The Chicago Tribune today has a picture of protesters holding up signs saying: " Abolish the CPD". I presume that stands for Chicago Police Department. It will forever be routine that when a black person is shot by police in Chicago, no matter the situation, there will be protests.

Prolly just a Democratic Socialists of America member. They want to abolish police and prisons. Cause...

They are clear existential threats to any movement for socialism and justice. Therefore, the abolition of police and prisons must be an explicit and institutionalized goal for DSA.

Wait. Did the police confront him simply because they observed that he had a gun?

When did we start being in favor of this?
