Friend pulled magazine from handgun, thought there was a disconnect. There wasn't.

Well, there was a disconnect regarding safe handgun handling.

    Friend is now dead.

    Very sad.

Very few firearms, have a disconnect .....

Once again, this would have saved a life .....

    OR simply follow the RULES,

    guns are ALWAYS LOADED,

DO NOT point at ANYTHING you do NOT want to DESTROY !!!!!

    Calling Kirk .....

I removed the disconnects from all of my Browning Hi Powers.

Then again, I don't point guns at things I am not willing to destroy.

He knew enough about guns to know that having a round chambered is different than having rounds in the magazine. So he knew it was ready to fire.

Even disregarding the rules, if he didn’t KNOW the gun had a disconnect, why would he assume that it HAD one?

    this is terrible.

that being said, my real curiosity is to what song was so awful that pointing a gun at your friend was a good idea?

    Very sad.
If I were the parents of the deceased, I would be absolutely livid!
No excuse what so ever for this, stupid people doing stupid things.
This is exactly the behavior that gives the anti's more ammunition against gun owners.

    Gun's only got one job.

Don't point the gun at your buddy and pull the trigger unless you want to shoot your buddy.

At one time, he probably handled a gun - either his own or someone else's - that had the disconnect. That imprinted on his brain and assumptions were made.

Also, the reporting from the original source is that ... shockingly ... alcohol and drugs may have been involved.

I was trained and train even "play" guns are treated with the same level of respect. When we "play" airsoft you still handle the weapon with the respect you do live fire. Besides those buggers sting at close range and to the eye .. painful.
