Bringing a wheel lock to the New World in 1620 was pretty ballsy. No warranty if taken across the ocean.

Well Just to be an factual. There is no proof that this Wheelock was brought over on the Mayflower by John Alden. We do know it was found in the Alden Home, and the gun is old.

To be ugly about it, it could have come over years later. and Purchased by an Alden family member. There is just no documentation about what firearms were actually brought over on the Mayflower.

John Alden did not leave an actual Will. There was an inventory made of his possession after his death, and the only firearm's referenced are "2 old guns"..
