    I've never quite understood "buyback".

If whoever is buying them didn't own them first, then they can't buy them back.

I wanted to go to the one in Indy with a broken single shot I have. I got like 30 bucks in it. And, to sit outside and see what comes in

I never understood buybacks either...... if these people are that mentally unstable they can’t have a gun around them maybe they should get some free time on a couch.

Giving my guns away does not save any lives.... it only jeopardizes mine.

“Any legal weapons recovered will be resold to licensed dealers to earn money for other programs.”

Huh? So is the goal to remove guns or make money?

This was my first thought too.
This does nothing to "take guns off the streets..."
Looks like a publicity stunt wrapped up in a fundraiser.

So what prohibits lets say INGO from conducting a gun buy back cartel? Divide the state into 8 zones have said buy backs 2 weeks before each 1500. Should fund any feel good cause the group would care to toss the funds at.

So if I get someone to donate a bunch of gift cards I could do this?

Man, sounds like a win for me.

Get all the guns, run them thru the PD to be sure they aren't reported stolen and then have fun with them. Need to be sure that the PD would be cool with me if I brought in a few that were on the bad list.

Bet I could start a go fund me for gun buyback and get a lot of donations.

There is so much more to this than what you see.

Dumb liberal idiot politicians and their local yocal sheeple police just don’t get it! Criminals do not turn in their guns voluntarily. Not no way, not no how. My head explodes every time these libtards try these stunts. Peace. Out.

Only when they want to get rid of a broken stolen gun and the buyback is no questions asked...

    Oh they know this.
It is useless save for the political capital gained when the mindless see an effort being made. Feel good. Emotions at play.

If you think "Not police sponsored", means no observation, or intelligence is being gathered then your mistaken.
The police are in charge of protecting their communities. It is done in many ways you don't know about.
A roadside fruit stand would be surveiled if needed.
