Why do teenagers (some of then) act like such ### hats? We went to a state hunter education range today. We went there because they are well known for range saftey. Were there for about 10 minutes when these idiots came in about 3 lanes over and did their little rapid fire mag dump into the wood target strands until they destroyed the stand.

Good news they actually had a Range Safety officer that promptly escorted them off the range and gave them a free ride as well.

In total we were there for 2 hours, my son got his new GSR on the paper near the bullseye first shot. I think the bolt action was the right call it really got him to work on the basics.

To be honest with you I have seen more grown men (young and old) act like ###hats as you say. Typically, in my experience youth are more safety prone because they aren't cocky like some know it all grown men at the range. Just my experience and I am constantly around youth shooting (my sons are in several youth gun clubs / organizations, etc.).

The range we went to does not charge for youth under 16 I think they are trying to give families with younger children a chance to shoot with their families for a reasonable price. For the 3 of us it was $16.00 for 2 hours. I am wondering if the teens were perhaps non citizens? Hence the free ride.

You tend to see this type of behavior out of folks who aren't seriously into guns, but own one, and then want to show off for their buddies. Stupidity and then sometimes it turns into a tragedy.

One of the reasons I just can't much deal with public ranges much anymore. Too much stupid.

Glad the boy is liking the bolt gun.

about the only time i visit a public range, ( i have one 5 miles away) is for ammo testing, sighting in optics.
i did take the wife and my niece shooting there as well.

watching some people that may have better luck tossing the gun at a target rather than shooting it. :runaway:

i tend to stay away from gun shows, and some local gun stores, as well. seems like theres a lot of "gun shop commandos" wandering around as well.:chest:

I have to say I felt really out of place wearing jeans and t shirt. I did not get the memo about wearing 511 pants etc.

Man, I must live in some kind of alternative reality over here hahaha. My local gun stores are great, and my local outdoor range is great. Been going every weekend wince moving here four months ago and the only time I ran into range commandos pretending this is the jungles of Vietnam was when some people brought their friends who were visiting from Chicago. Though a polite conversation shamed them into acting like reasonable people. Anyway, I've seen guys bring their children around and they're usually the most responsible shooters on the range. Old guys usually only shoot a few rounds, deliberate, and slow. Some guys do magazine dumps, but they're the ones who are really into practicing drawing their gun quickly and engaging the targets. And damn, they usually shoot well.
