I am thinking about collecting parts to build a 300 BO in an AR pistol. I am wondering what you all recommend. My thinking behind this build is just because it would be a fun gun and also deer hunt with it on public ground. I have seen 8.5" and 10.5" barrels are common. I don't plan on getting a suppressor. Any suggestions on using a flash can or A2 hider? I know there are several members on here who have built these guns. I am just hoping for advice on your experiences. Thanks.

I'm still only a few hundred rounds into my 8 1/2 pistol. Lots more load development due with better weather.

I have always shot mine with the KVP Linear Comp. (They are only $40.) Couldn't say for sure how much it helps, but I'm very happy with how little my fairly heavy pistol recoils vs other 300BLK guns I have shot.

I just built this gun for the same reason. just shot it 2x yesterday seemed loud to me (could just be me excited for my stamp) 8.5" barrel but if gov ever reopens I have a stamp headed my way. I have a couple posts in outdoor section on here... with some good .300 info people have given.

Our current 'fun' build is a 'PMQ'- Poor Mans Q. 7.5" 1-8 twist, SBA3 brace, flash can, Larue-MBT, Nikon 1-4. Lightweight but I think the 10.5" will be more accurate. We'll see as soon as it warms up.

10.5 faxon barrel, seekins adjustable gas block, good compensator, and a decent brace. The rest is pick your own flavor with no real impact on performance. Supers out of a pistol are sporty so I'd want a compensator over a flash hider.

From my research, faster twist rates provide better accuracy, especially with subs. It sounds like you will be sticking mostly with supers since you don’t plan on suppressing. A few companies name twist rates as fast as 1/5, much faster than that and bullets spin themselves apart. If I were building, I would look for at least a 1/7 barrel.

Between 8 or 10 inch barrel, that’s personal preference. IMO 300 Blk supersonic is good to 200m, MAYBE 300. At those ranges an extra 2” of barrel isn’t going to matter much.

My 300 Blk pistol wears an A2 flash hider. Seems to work just fine.
