S&W 1911TFP Would like some info

A S&W 1911TFP has found me for a $450 price tag. Any of you know anything about them? It looks nice with under 500 rounds down range, bought new 10 years ago. Not much info on it on the web. I do know it was the first model to do away with their firing pin safety going to a 70's setup. It was made only a few years, slide and frame are SS coated black. External ejector. Age is catching up to me so looking for something lighter and smaller than the 6" STI 2011 I carry now.

Google is my friend. Titanium Firing Pin which allowed them to dump the Schwartz Safety. Looks like the older, smaller external safety. Predecessor of the current E series guns. For what you paid it is a good pick and would make a fine working gun. Grab some Wilson or Chip magazines and enjoy.
