Saw this on Facebook and had to do a spit-take. Ventured over to the website and it's no hoax.

"BCI Defense has stopped all commercial firearms manufacturing due to market conditions, low customer demand and parent companies priority for OEM manufacturing."

    Thoughts?

Well, they took the bumpstock. Maybe nobody wants to buy an ar now. I'm buying, so you know where I stand with saying so.

Shame. They made a solid product.

As has been stated, the market has excess capacity. Contraction is more likely than a return to the demand of years past in the near term.

If they are focusing on OEM manufacturing that means you'll still be able to get their products, they just won't be BCI branded.

Everyone and their brother jumped into the AR015 market in the last decade. It's no surprise that companies that have other avenues of making money have decided to concentrate on that instead of a market that is absolutely saturated. I'm more surprised that I haven't seen a lot of smaller AR "parts builder" companies go out of business all together.

This has nothing to do with the ar15 market. This has everything to do with Bremen foundry. They are absolutely swamped. My shop alone has taken on multiple machining projects for them. Not much more I feel comfortable saying on the internet but thid has much more to do with the state of general industry than the current status of the AR15 market.

So they stopped commercial manufacturing, and they're swamped. Sounds like they're too busy right now to play in that market.

I've never owned a full BCI rifle but I did buy a stripped lower once. They forgot to drill the hole for the bolt catch roll pin. They made it right, but that kind of soured me from buying anything else from them. If that was missed by quality control, what else might be.

Well, Anderson is still in business, and they’ve never had a QC department?

I call FUD. I’ve built a dozen Anderson lowers and never had a single issue with any of them.
ive built almost that many, and they’ve all been soup sandwiches, oversized holes, out of spec mag wells, partially threaded grip screw holes, all in all okaybif they were sold as 80%. But you do you. I’ve got zero love for PSA, but feel better building one of theirs as opposed to the Poverty Pony. (God I love that name). I’m not even gonna ***** about the quality of milling.

I've built a few Anderson lowers and have not run into a problem. I have heard the stories, specifically of the grip screw threads, but have not had an issue. I've also used Psa, Stag, and Aero. No issues with any of those either. I prefer Aero for all my upper and lowers now, and the biggest reason for that is I like they thread the rear takedown pin spring and detent hole and have the adjustment screw for upper and lower fitment, but I wouldn't hesitate to use the others either.

Everyone is going to have their own opinion based on their personal experiences, and with that said, I'd be hesitant to buy a Bci product just based on my 1 experience.

I have always had some issue with an Anderson lower. Easily overcome but always something.

Maybe 1 that cleared muster. I stopped using them.

I got to handle their stuff at Copper Custom, I have to say I was pretty impressed, It's just so hard to compete at that price point in such an incredibly saturated market. I wouldn't be surprised is more "lesser known" brands pulled out.

Every local shop tried selling me a BCI. Never heard of them and for the money bought two PSA gun kits. I would say PSA has it on lock right now.
