$100 - $5,000. How much you want to spend and how deep you want to go down the hole? Check out u-tube vids "air gun hunting" lots of opinions there.

Just for plinking. Shooting mice and piney squirrels in the barn mostly. I understand the price range is very large, but I'd like to stay on the low end if there is something that is accurate and powerful enough. No competition shooting.

Would rather not spend a ton and don't really want to go too far down the hole. I just need it for shooting mice and piney squirrels in the barn. I've watched some youtube, but honestly, just showed me that there are more options than I care to consider. That's really why I posted on here, hoping that someone would be able to narrow it down for me.

I am interested in a quality and accurate air rifle, but really do not know much about them. Any help?

Yes, start here with the Beeman book of airguns: https://www.beemans.net/

This is a solid hornbook: https://www.amazon.com/Total-Airguns-Complete-Hunting-Rifles/dp/0811713202

Check out https://www.airgundepot.com/air-rifles.html and https://www.pyramydair.com/air-guns . I would recommend a Nitro piston gun over a spring operated one. Go .20 or .22 caliber. You can get a perfectly adequate air rifle in the $100- 150 range. The scopes that come on most are junk and you will likely end up replacing the scope with a good rifle scope. Make sure to get a scope that will stand up to the recoil of the air rifle, some won't. Add another $100+ for the scope.

My .22 Hatsan 95 with vortex gas piston is quite enjoyable and will do everything you said you want to do.

I got it from either airgun depot or pyramid air.
