People who work at a computer screen in an office in California don't need special guns. Ain't nobody going to be sent into space with firearms for a long, long time.

well, from my limited knoledge.. ;) when fired the gun would push you as hard as the recoil is.. so you would get a impulse pushin you the opposite way of firing..

    Russian astronauts carry firearms.

They have those fancy 3 calibers shotgun/pistol/carbine/machete guns.

They also have a Makarov pistol in their survival kit.

It's mostly for defensive use when they land back on earth.

    .
Considering how lightly spacecraft are built, you could probably damage one with a slingshot. No loss of velocity from atmospheric resistance to any projectile. I figure robotic stuff will do the "shooting" up in space, going after satellites.

From what I've seen the tri barrel gun has been retired, as it used specialty ammo, that they considered expired, and just started giving them Maks as "good enough" .

    Could be anywhere
The Ruskies are actually the only that we know of that fired weapons in space. They shot a 23mm Rikhter R-23 autocannon from the Salyut 3 space station before they deorbited it just to say they did.

As for space, directed energy is probably the way to go because of that whole equal and opposite reaction thing.
