I came across this on another website. It was taken by someone visiting the artillery museum at Ft. Sill. Near as I can figure, they are getting ready to execute a time-traveler, but I suspect there may be another explanation.

Well I was a Drill Sergent at Ft. Sill for three years.

    1. Looks like they are training females now

    2. That's the wrong side of the tracks for privates that's the normal post.

    3. They have A2's

    4. Are in the process of killing a time traveler they show up every few weeks gotta kill em.
You know time and space thing.

I was at Fort Sill in August and October for my drill duty i'm getting to know my way around pretty good. Much different environment than Benning. Our Battery's/Platoons were half female but they worked as hard as the guys. When I was there in October all the M16 variants had pretty much been replaced with M4A1's (the full auto versions, no burst). I don't have an explanation for this picture either, maybe it was some kind of training event for a parade detail or something?

Looks to me like a Civil War reenactor is teaching boots how they fought in skirmish lines during the Civil War.

I doubt it's basic trainees, they have no camelbak's, one has a jacket on where the others don't which would never happen, and I think one has a patch on but it's hard to see.

    .
Small size of the civil war dressed man relative to the soldiers, and low sun angle shadows makes me think they are actually pointed at the building and he is just to the right of their line of fire.

During my time in the Army I attended several ceremonies celebrating the evolution of the soldier through American history. As each period was announced, a soldier dressed in proper contemporary uniform marched on-stage and stood at attention. Revolutionary, 1812, Civil War, Spanish-American, etc...onto present day, which back then was Desert Storm sand camouflage. Made for an interesting display.
