and they scratched mine.
I've been a regular fixture at my local indoor range here in Lafayette through the last several owners.
I've done mostly light maintenance work for them over the years, but nothing really major.
One task I've been taking care of is to "clean the traps".
Mainly the handgun traps. They seem to build up lead walls at the bottom, and if left to grow too large, they start throwing splattered lead back toward the shooter.
I've figured out a way to chisel out these walls of lead in a pretty short time.
It generally takes less than 1 hour to clean 3 bays, or 15 traps total.
This weekend I cleaned them again, and the owner happened to be there.
He told me again that he felt he needed to pay me for my time, but I shrugged it off.
I told him that I appreciate not being charged a transfer fee even if I do not buy the gun from him. I also told him I enjoy being able to shoot for free.
I've enjoyed this privilege through the last 4 owners.
Anyway, I got a call from the range today asking me to stop by. They said they wanted to show me something.
When I got there they showed me a blank 4473 and told me to fill it out.
The owner had overheard me talking about wanting a Mossberg Shockwave, so he bought me one for taking care of the traps!
I now own a Shockwave in 12ga. I already had one in .410bore.
It's always a great day when someone gifts you a firearm!
