During the past 90 days, an average of 10,667 women in the U.S. bought their first firearm........ This breaks all previous records in the U.S..

    https://bongino.com/six-million-guns-sold-in-three-months

    1. That is really good that the population is becoming more aware of the protective role of firearms.

    2. That is really good that females, who tend to vote for Democrats, may reconsider who they vote for.

    3. Some good job opportunities for firearms-safety trainers.

PLEASE HELP SEE TO IT THAT ANY NEW GUN OWNERS YOU KNOW GET TRAINING (many trainers advertise right here on INGO).

I wish we could see the data behind that.

I wonder how many of the 10,666 are girlfriends/wives/mistresses making a straw purchase for a male counterpart that cannot pass a 4473/NICS?

I wish we could see the data behind that.

The math works per the article. 6 million guns sold in 90 days. 40% to first-time gun owners, 40% of the first-time gun owners were women. .40*.40=.16 (16%). 6,000,000*.16=960,000. 960,000/90=10,666.67.

They're fudging data somewhere. They headline 6,000,000 in three months, then highlight May as setting the record of 1.7 million. 1.7 x 3 = 5.1, which is still an impressive number, but 85% of what was claimed.

“Approximately” combined with “round up” will get you there. Good catch.

As they say, figures lie, and liars figgure... however, is the 1.7 million in May a record for any month, or is it a record for May. Perhaps March saw 2.5 million sold? I haven't looked at the data to know this, but just pointing out the language is unclear.

This is truly awesome! The best thing we can do for the future of our 2A rights is to make them comfortable with their new purchases. Keep your ear to the ground and if you hear through family and friends that 'so and so' just bought their first gun (presumably the vast majority were handguns)...offer to take them to the range and let them shadow you for a few hours for some free instruction.

The past few months have been some of the worst we've known in our lifetimes, and have given the socialists a really excellent opportunity to seize what they've been after for 100 years. If the stats are true, our freedom might stand a chance after all...the more law-abiding gun owners out there, the more these antifa sally's will have to think twice about leaving the 'downtowns' of cities across the USA and head for 'fresh turf' in the suburbs to destroy.

White male conservative gun owner market is saturated, there's churn but no growth. Life or death for FFLs nowadays is in how well they can relate to and serve women and minorities. Those are the growth areas, and we need them if gun rights are going to survive in any meaningful form.

The sales figures this year have been mind-boggling. Something like 1% of the adult, eligible population became new gun owners this year.

I believe you may be correct, it was a record for May but not an all-time record. From a CBS News article

More than 2.9 million new background checks were conducted in April, a decrease from the record-shattering 3.7 million checks conducted in March, but still higher than the number of checks done in January and February. The April 2020 number is also significantly higher than the 2.3 million background checks conducted in April 2019

None of the ones I've sold to, or worked with at the range.

Our ladies only classes are booked up through next month, and I'm sure when we schedule August, those will be full too.
