Before covid hit a good friend of mine acquired a Barrett 50 cal and brought it out to the range. Took a slo-mo vid from the ejection side and converted it to a gif (don’t know how to post vids yet).

    great gun. Is a beast.

I had chance to shoot one. A buddy and I was talking to another guy at range. He asked if we wanted to shoot a couple rounds. Incredible experience. While watching my friend shoot I could actually see the pressure wave going across table by the way it disturbed the dust. Checked one off the Bucket list

I've shot them a few times. First one was similar to your experience Fullmag. Just some guy at our range that offered to let us shoot his. His had a VERY light trigger pull and man, was that a surprise! I think I giggled like a school girl. :):

There was a Barrett at the Marty Brown Memorial event Revere's Rider's put on at Alan A's place a few weeks ago. You could buy rounds to shoot as part of the fundraiser.

It was raining off and on all day so the firing line was covered by a bunch of those 10 x 10 pop up tents. Watching the muzzle blast send rain drops flying off the top of the tent was fun to watch. The Barrett got a workout that day. I think they ran through something like 70 rounds.

Nigel (nad63) was the only one willing to shoot it off handed. The rest of us wimps went prone.

I've always shot them from a bench. Actually off handed is probably the "gentlest" way to shoot one as long as you can hold the rifle up and keep it firm against your shoulder.
