    So I have spent the better part of 2 days looking at a backpack that would hold a full size ar, not a pistol version. Then it occurred to me that since it’s not a handgun, is that legal in Indiana? Can you conceal a rifle? I’ve done a quick google search but can’t seem to find that answer.

    Someone else correct me if I’m wrong, but at that point, it’s basically considered storage for transport...which should be covered here:

    Preemption
    No unit of government may regulate in any manner the ownership, possession, carrying, transportation, registration, transfer, and storage of firearms, ammunition, and firearm accessories.
    Ind. Code 35-47-11.1-2: Regulation by political subdivisions prohibited
    Except as provided in section 4 of this chapter, a political subdivision may not regulate:

    (1) firearms, ammunition, and firearm accessories;

    (2) the ownership, possession, carrying, transportation, registration,
    transfer, and storage of firearms, ammunition, and firearm accessories; and

    (3) commerce in and taxation of firearms, firearm ammunition, and firearm accessories.

    To my knowledge, there’s nothing in state law that prohibits a lawful person from ‘concealing’ a long gun.
