Another double homicide in Lafayette, evidently on Monday evening.
A 19 year old pizza delivery driver was shot dead in an apparent botched robbery attempt.
A 37 year old concerned neighbor stepped outside and was also shot dead.

A 17 year old female is in custody.

Very sad. A pizza delivery boy can't be carrying enough money to risk going to prison for the rest of your life...

^^^^ this. The 23yr old tried to rob the 37yr old pizza guy and the pizza guy defended himself successfully against the would be robber. The 17yr old girl accomplise came out of the house and picked up the 23yr olds gun and shot the 37yr old dead.

    That's HORRIBLE!

I got robbed once when I was a pizza guy in Phoenix back in 2000. I just let them take the pizza and my reward was getting to drive away with no holes in me. Personally, no amount of pizza or money is worth having to defend myself and dealing with the aftermath. I say this having NO idea what the situation was like and definitely NOT knocking the 37yo for doing what he felt he had to do...situation dictates. I got lucky.

    Lessons to be learned here.

I remember years back, some the first scenarios in FOF we were exposed to.

"Innocent victims" were part of the sceme set up by the bad guys.

Word back on pizza delivery man is that he was outstanding citizen, hard-worker, family man, exact who we do not need murdered in the streets in Lafayette.

This needs to stop, while we have some excellent officers in LPD, we cannot stop without a change in leadership. Law enforcement leadership has quit on us (the North End) and the Twin Pats have written us off entirely.

I can't believe pizza places are still doing cash sales. I know someone that delivers pizzas and they are pay on order through the store. Drop the pizza on the front porch and knock on the door.

Tips can be paid ahead of time or at the door but the driver is not carrying cash to the door.

Times have changed and places need to adjust.
