Can someone point me to laws reguarding age to buy handgun person to person. I thought you had to be 21, but some say they have a conceal permit, and can buy via private sale at 18.

Via private sale only, 18 years old. Must be 21 to purchase thru FFL.
Another stupid law that makes no sense, being an 18 year old can get a ltch

The 21yo min age is because that is a requirement for FFLs to keep their license. Bypass the FFL by a face-to-face in-state transaction and 18 is the minimum age.

One's federal, one's state, so... yeah.

The fed's can't regulate P-P sales in a state, so that's why it can be 18. Fed's do regulate dealers, so they can mandate 21.

21 years old FTF, and if buying through FFL must also be 21 years of age.

There's three people ahead of you giving the correct answer... so... do you have anything to back up your contradictory statement? :dunno:

EDIT: you're not in Madison, WI, are you?

Let's see what the law actually says...

    IC 35-47-2-7

Sec. 7 . (a) Except an individual acting within a parent-minor child or guardian-minor protected person relationship or any other individual who is also acting in compliance with IC 35-47-10 (governing children and firearms), a person may not sell, give, or in any other manner transfer the ownership or possession of a handgun or assault weapon to any person under eighteen (18) years of age.

    Seems like you're incorrect.
