MILWAUKEE - A Milwaukee man was accused of shooting his lawn mower because it wouldn't start. Keith Walendowski, 56, was charged with felony possession of a short-barreled shotgun or rifle and misdemeanor disorderly conduct while armed.

According to the criminal complaint, Walendowski said he was angry because his Lawn Boy wouldn't start Wednesday morning. He told police quote, "I can do that, it's my lawn mower and my yard so I can shoot it if I want."

A woman who lives at Walendowski's house reported the incident. She said he was intoxicated.
Walendowski could face up to an $11,000 fine and six years and three months in prison if convicted.

A call to Walendowski's home went unanswered Friday morning.

    Realistically speaking:
There are three criteria to follow before a shooting...
    1. Does this person intend to cause great bodily harm, or death. I really think the lawn mower in question was trying to SAVE the owner some bodily harm not to mention sweat and time!
    2. Does this person have the ability to carry out his intent. I truly believe (although I was NOT there) there was no physical ability entrusted in that lawn mower.
    3. Does this person have the opportunity to carry out his intent. once again I am speaking from my OWN experience with similar tools of the lawn-mans' trade, this particular mower in question probably lacked the muscular agility and physical reach to constitute "opportunity". Albiet the distance from the "victim" was in close proximity; therefore opening this case for discussion in that area.
Seriously.... ALCOHOL AND GUNS DO NOT MIX!!!!!!
I believe this needs to be added to the "four universal firearms laws"

I missed this thread and opened my own in the break room... Opps. Thanks to Lars for pointing it out... that boy's on top of things!

That said, all that came to my mind was a knock off of the Bugs Bunny Movie singing "Kill the Mower, Kill the Mower..."

    :D

Ahhh, ya think? He was in jail. ;)

I can sympathize with the guy though, I damn near shot my snow blower (2 years old) this last winter because the pull starter got yanked off when I tried to start it. Damn Craftsman...
