I think we have too many politicians.
I think we have too many politicians.
25 kids per class to 35+ this year. Rock bottom pay. Shovel more **** to them, and then let em take the fall while the generals sit atop their perch barking orders.
Moneys gotta come from somewhere right? And who would ever run the schools if we didn't have $100k+ per year admins and their assistants to keep everyone in line?
I'm sure Tony Bennett will recruit a bazillion 'workforce professionals' to come in and show everyone just how easily it's done... at 20k per year.
I agree with both. We would not need nearly so many teachers if we returned schools to the business of teaching proper curriculum in an effective manner. This means teaching useful knowledge as opposed to operating socialist mills. This means teaching children as they are able to learn and not ignoring the better students while catering to those least able such as to perform acceptably well on standardized tests which should not exist according to standards established by a federal department which should not exist based on federal laws with absolutely no constitutional foundation and therefore should not exist. My great-grandmother and two colleagues turned out better students from a three room school with none of the trinkets no school would consider operating without today.
Too many politicians would serve as a major cause of this problem.
Never happen. Individualized instruction is anathema to government schools. Private schools can't even do it.
Right now there aren't federal standards, just federal guidelines. Each state sets its own standards. However, the federal guidelines are being adopted by many of the states, and it's likely that they will soon be de facto federal standards by virtue of the fact that all, or nearly all, the states will adopt them.
School =/= education.
Education =/= knowledge.
Knowledge =/= means of productivity.*
Unfortunately, the government education machine thinks differently.
*Knowledge in general. One needs knowledge for productivity, but it must be the right kind of knowledge. One can not be productive at farming if one is well-versed in the science of chemistry but knows nothing of agriculture or husbandry.

I agree that we seem to have more superintendents and principals than ever and probably don't need them all. I also think they are generally overpaid.
But where are teachers making $20,000 per year?
Indiana Teacher Salary | Teaching Salaries in IN | Teacher Portal
Starting pay of almost $31k and average salaries of $47k for 8-9 months of work doesn't seem too bad. I know they work long hours during the school year. Join the club, a lot of us do.
Sorry. I did not mean to insinuate he caused the issues. I was merely pointing out one of his solutions is futile.
This is why we need to eliminate the .gov education cartel.
I mis-spoke. When my wife began teaching she was in the low 20's. What's odd is, 10 yrs later she is apparantly now making the minimum starting salary listed on that site.
Assuming it's current, the stats on that site speaks volumes;
Total Expenditures: $9,241,565,211
Teacher Expenditures: $2,817,619,338
Percent Spent on Teachers: 30.49 %
Yeah... we need to get rid of more teachers... There's an entire 30% we could reduce the budget by. Think of how many high school sports stadiums we could build (and have to maintain) with that money
What percentage of those expenditures are sports related?
Teachers starting out at Bellmont in North Adams County start out at $20. Teachers at most catholic schools start out less than 30, close to 25. My fianncee who teachs only makes 25 a year. If you want I can through up some false numbers on a website too? I think the issue is there is not enough money to go around. Maybe its just me but tax me for schools (as long as its going to schools/classrooms and not admins) Robby hit it on the head you try to teach 30 plus kids for 45-hour and a half, when their own parents are worthless nobodies and do not care how their child performs in school. Its starts at home, but its the teachers fault a kid cant pass, not the kid, or the parents. A teacher is not a babysitter, they have a job like you and I do. Parents need to learn how to raise a child, but they cant raise one when they are a child themselves.
Administration jobs are WAY over payed and there are WAY to many of them, iI agree with you there. Teachers and admins......BIG difference.
